Site Tour ride along AKA (10 by 10)

Every Sunday am from 7:30 till about 10 Paul and I check all the lots and some of the trails. We hit the 10 major spots in town and pick up a fair amount of trash. We also spot any trouble spots and report them. Paul can not do this for the next few month so If anyone want to join me for this drop me a line. Its a great way to learn about where all the sites are. We always swing by Jones Cafe and grab a coffee as part of the tour.

Interested? drop me a line at Phil@thechelmsfordian.com It does not have to be a commitment of every week and only once is fine. Paul and I have a lot of fun and laugh a lot and find some of the strangest things.

Cool New Device

Sony has updated their GPS-CS1 with the new GPS-CS1KSP model that comes in essentially the same form factor with just a little more sexy added to the device's housing. The original model was meant to perform as a geo-tagging unit allowing you to track your meanderings and link them back to photographic footage. The new model adds the bonus of Google Maps functionality, a feature that might have been huge for the Japanese device if it wasn't for the fact that Yahoo still rules the search market in Japan. The device is set to go on sale for 15,540 yen ($144) on March 14th.

The Stewards would like to announce the official addition of Russell Mill to our list of supported sites. This was made possible by the addition of a new Site Steward Scott Derleth. Scott is a partner in Doug’s Treework. This brings much need expertise in tree cutting and tree health to the Stewardship. Scott has been walking the site for many years and jumped at the chance to help restore this site and show if off to other residents. As Scott has joined the Stewardship please think about looking at his company if you need tree work.

Doug’s Treework can be reached at 781 275 0414

Look for more news about a major clean up at the site in the next few weeks. If you know of someone who needs community service time this will count toward that.

Busy weekend around Town

Busy weekend. Saturday was a Land Trust work part at Kroll Pasture. It was about 120 degrees and the only crazies who show where Stewards. We cleared an area of the pasture and restored and pruned the apple tree. For the first time in years you can now sit under the tree and enjoy the view.

Sunday was a build at Thanksgiving forest. The connecting trail between Thanksgiving Forest and Great Brook is heavily used but foot, bike and horse traffic add to this is has a stream running across it, it was a huge mess. The trail has been split to a Horse\bike crossing and a bridge for bike\foot traffic. This is far safer and better for all involved. The stream is no longer full of “crap” people tossed in to get across that also causes a dam to widen the stream.

Next weekend we will be out at Deep Brook to close off at the ATV crossings and get ready for an site wide clean up… come join us!
