The lots at the Quarry and BB Wright have not been cleared so I parked on Bridge Street and entered the Quarry by the back way. I broke in the whole snow shoe trail and let me tell it I must have lost 5 lbs!. It was a great walk and one of the best work outs I have had in quite a whil. Hopefull the lots will be open by Sunday so if you want to snow show now is your chance!

I had a chance to walk the Quarry and Crooked Spring and this is what I found. The Quarry is in great shape now I closed off the Snowmobile entrance. I checked all the pits and no sign of any activity of any kind and not a single track from 495 into the property could be found. The person who was using the snow mobile received a letter from the town tell him to “knock it off” so I do not expect a repeat. Bottom line the Quarry is in wonderful shape and has left it’s history where it belongs.. in the past.
Crooked Spring was also in fine shape and only two small items. The first is we have a huge widow maker on far side of the pond towards the start of the Eagle Scout bridges. The beaver dams have caused a large wash out under some of the trees and this large one is hung up on two pines over the trail. The second is we will need to clear the steps on the switchback after a snow storm to keep it usable and safe. I cleared some of it but will head back over with a shovel if no one beats me two it. |
