With over 15 teams in this year it was a great hit. Those who did put up trees please try to get them down next weekend. I will sort and tabulate and we will draw and post winners in Next Thursdays Independent.

From November 25th through January 1st individuals, families or groups are invited to participate in a unique and fun scavenger hunt and vie for the coveted Amazing Decorated Winter Tree Scavenger Hunt Trophy. Here’s how to play: (1) Visit http://www.facebook.com/l/71d0b;www.thechelmsfordian.com for open space locations and scavenger hunt rules. (2) Go to the Lime Quarry, Crooked Spring Reservation, Red Wing Farm, Deep Brook, Thanksgiving Forest, Sunny Meadow Farm, Varney Park, Heart Pond, Cranberry Bog, Russell Mill, George BB Wright, and Bartlett Park and FIND THE TREES. (3) Take a digital photo of yourself or your group WITH THE TREES. (4) Email photos of at least 10 OUT OF 12 trees to phil@thechelmsfordian.com along with your name/group name and phone number – Must submit at least 10 out of 12 tree photos to be eligible to win the trophy. (5) Wait to find out if you are the big winner. The 2nd Annual Amazing Decorated Winter Tree Scavenger Hunt is designed to introduce people to natural (and free) resources in the Town of Chelmsford. The 12 open space properties are great places to walk, jog, bike, fish, canoe, bird watch, geocache, snow shoe and more. This special event was planned by the Chelmsford Open Space Stewardship. Nine teams have completed the 10 tree scavenger hunt. If you have done so and not sent me pictures please send them by Monday at 9am. The full list we will be posted Monday at noon.
All winning teams need to: 1) Send me a full list of your members (not everyone need be in every picture). 2) Send me a quick blurb on your adventure. 3) An address to send the certificate too. 4) At the next Conservation Meeting All the names of the winning teams will be tossed in a hat and one name will be drawn for the trophy. We hope everyone had the same fun we had putting this on. No town funds were used for any part of this (and the $5 trophy reflects that. Due to the ice storm and no power and trees down on all the proprerties we have extended the deadline for photos till next Monday at 9am. I know we have a lot of kids off this week and this will give everyone a chance to explore all th sites.
Seven teams have crossed the finish line and everyone who gets all 10 will receive a nice award. We only have one tropy this yera and all the teams will be drawn from a hat for that. This is our first time doing this and we will do it bigger and better next year! For all the teams please e-mail a list of all your members and a short note about your team or something about the hunt. We will be wrtting a story for the paper and want include this as part of it.
