Ohio man arrested for mowing unkempt grass at park
Fri May 29, 4:54 pm ET SANDUSKY, Ohio – An Ohio man arrested for mowing unkempt grass at a public park said he just wanted to make his city look nice. John Hamilton said he took control of the situation because the grass in Sandusky's Central Park was about a foot high. According to a police report, a witness said Hamilton was blowing grass onto the sidewalk and shredding trash in the park that had not been picked up. Police said they arrested 48-year-old Hamilton after he refused to stop mowing and charged him with obstructing official business and disorderly conduct. City Manager Matt Kline called the arrest unfortunate and said he understands Hamilton's frustration. Kline said budget cuts have left Sandusky understaffed for seasonal maintenance work Note: IN one of those super freak coincidences I found that Brian (Steward of Bartlett park) is from… you guessed it…. Yup this town!

Police looking into rash of housebreaks
Thu Mar 05, 2009, 03:55 PM EST Chelmsford - The Chelmsford Police Department is investigating a recent string of housebreaks that have taken place in town over the last 10 days. The breaks, which began on Feb. 23, appear to be taking place during daytime hours, to homes that are unoccupied. In most cases, forced entry has been made through rear or side doors to the home. There is no specific area or street that has been identified, but rather, the breaks appear to be random and spread out throughout the town. The police department is actively investigating these housebreaks, and is asking all residents in town to be observant to suspicious persons or vehicles around vacant homes. Residents and others are urged to call the police department at 978-256-2521 to report any suspicious or unusual activity. Note: If anyone notices anything strange or items dumped in the woods please call me. sometimes items are left for later pickup or items not considered valuable are discarded in the open space lots off just off the trail. do not touch them just call me 978-273-1474 and we will come over and look at it and see if CPD might be interested. Its a long shot bit so was the Soxs winning the world series. also please lock you cars and report any "strange" cars.

New year starts with a wonderful random act of kindness. So its new years day and I race home to dig out my driveway and to my total surprise its totally clear. I have no idea who or why but what better way to set the tone for 09. People say the world is going to hell but this make me see the work has good people left in it that want to help others not for recognition or profit but just because.
Whoever you are thanks! I am now going to open up the parking lots and snowshoe trails. Jimmy Hoffa found in Chelmsford center?Posted by: pstanway on Monday, August 18, 2008 - 09:32 AM

Is it true they are seaching for Jimmy's body in Bartlet Park? Well maybe but more likley it is to replace the blocked pipe that has been a major issue for water on the site for many years. I iwll get some photos and post them later today but its amazing to see a stream going right under the center of town.

Well looks like the festive fun has moved to Janet road. This morning I picked up about a dozen bottles smashed in the street. None of the damage was on the property but on the Town road in front of the property. I cleaned up most of the broken glass but be careful parking in the area. Both ConCom and CPD have been notified and hopefully increased patrols in the area will stop this. The removal of the fire pits ect has cleaned up the property and now we hope the CPD can handle the issue on the main road I figure the kids where there for a few hours at least.
Note: If you do see trash please buzz me (978-273-1474) and we will report it and send in a cleanup crew.
Please help us track down these kids.Posted by: pstanway on Wednesday, October 03, 2007 - 01:57 PM

We have been having on going issues with some local kids at Thanksgiving. Last night they made a mess and burn up some of the signs (not a bright thing to do). We are looking for a gray car with the plates 4707-WE or something very close to this. If you know who drives this car we are very interested in talking to them. We are recording all plates of cars parked at night and turning them over to CPD but I am not 100% sure this is the correct plate; If we can lock it down we can then pursue this.
Once we catch them (and we will) they are looking at Trespassing, alcohol possession, littering, starting fires on conservation land ect... all will look great on collage transcripts. We will get them and we will take them to court. Note: This is just maybe 4 or five local High School kids out of the 100's who use the property. It has taken two years to clean this up and eliminate this activity and we will NOT allow it to restart. We will have to make an example of these kids.
Oct 7 : The kids have been found and the issue is now in the hands of both CPD and CFD. Not the best week for the QuarryPosted by: pstanway on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 - 12:24 PM

Sorry to say not a great week for the Quarry. I met with the police department and they are looking into the paintball issue. Everyone should keep an eye open and if you see them call CPD at once. They are trespassing and will be arrested. Two large truck tiers where dumped in the parking lot last night and we are now working on a system to get them removed quickly so they do not attract more dumping. If you see any dumping or dumped items please call me (Phil) at 978-273-1474 at once and I will see about getting it taken care of. No one likes to be the first to dump but lots of people are happy to be second. These two items we need to stay on top of as both can take focus from all the hard work everyone does. The third item is that for the third time a truck or bus drove across the island. We have not done a planting so it really has done very little damage but I have asked the DPW to place a nice big rock on the Island so it rips out the transmissions if they do it again.
But we always have some good news: Jim removed the huge dead branch that hangs over the parking lot! The trails have been marked for snowshoeing (yellow ribbons.) Projects in the WingsPosted by: pstanway on Friday, July 28, 2006 - 06:41 PM

Please be advised that road paving is currently taking place in the Central Square area, specifically at the intersection of North Road/Route 4. If possible, drivers should attempt to find alternate routes or allow additional time for commuting through the Center between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Unfortunately, the timing of the construction was unavoidable and we apologize for any inconveniece. Because the costs of paving materials will increase by 30% after July 1st, the Town is trying to complete a number of projects. The work iin Central Square s expected to be completed within the next two weeks, weather permitting. New information will be posted with any updates. Thank you for your patience while this important road improvement project is being completed.
Paint Ball Players Tossed out of Old Lime QuarryPosted by: pstanway on Saturday, April 08, 2006 - 02:32 PM

Friday of this week a group of young men using paint ball guns where asked to leave the property. It was later found that they had used the main entrance sign for target practice and even after being asked to leave they later returned and continued. They where noticed by of the volunteers and the Chelmsford police where called and they where escorted off the property and told they would be arrested if seen again. This is the way this should be handled.
1) Inform them that paint ball is not allowed. 2) Record license plate of car. 3) Call Chelmsford police and give them description of who is involved and the cars (if they are parked in the lot) 4) Return to the parking lot and wait for the officers to arrive. 5) Do not get confrontational with them or threatening as you do not to escalate the situation. This also applies to dirt bikes and ATV’s. Dracut State Forest has a very high police presence to stop Paint Ball games so people are looking for other places to play. It is all our jobs to make sure that people know that Chelmsford Open Spaces is not on this list. |
