The town has opened the Lewis property development ideas from everyone in town. As CPC fund where used to buy it it must be outdoor rec use. We have come up with a plan and it can be found here now this is just an idea and we know we can do this for very little money and maybe 800+ hours of donated time.
I will be at Lewis for the next two Sundays at 12 and will show anyone and everyone who shows up the property and and answer those questions I can. I am far from an expert but I will do my best. Come on out and see the property and then think about what you would like to see there or how the current plan can be improved. AGAIN THIS PLAN IS NOT A FINAL PLAN BUT A STARTING POINT. NOTHING HAS BEEN DECIDED Hope to see some of you and please pass the word Note From Ben SperryPosted by: pstanway on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 - 11:39 AM

Well it looks like Crooked Springs got the worst of the storm. We are not sure why but it seems a lot of extra water rushed down the stream. A bridge that has stood for over 15 years was picked up and pushed 45 degrees. Large amounts of growth in the main pond was also picked up as if a back hoe had been at work and dumped in the main pond. Thanks to Jim, Steve, Bob G for comedown to help move the bridge back to its original location. We will be out today cutting the downed trees at Wright and Thanksgiving and hopefully everything will be back up and running by Monday afternoon.

A major construction project will be underway at Crooked Spring with a new 44 foot bridge spanning the neck of the pond on the far side. This will allow safer bike and walking access all year round. We have five new kiosks going in at Red Wing, the Cranberry Bog, Deep Brook and Russell Mill. The new marking of trail will also be ready for the fall. Four new Bike racks will be going in on sites and a major trail upgrade at Thanksgiving forest. So we are flat out and I will post new pictures soon.

We're going to be replacing the a bridge over the brook at Wright this Sunday (May 25th) starting at 10am. It's the oldest bridge on the trails and it's really showing its age. Keep following the trail to the right, it's the first bridge you cross.
We could use volunteers to help, especially if you have a battery powered saw. BIG THANKS go to Moore's Lumber for giving an amazing discount on the materials. Update: The build went well! Check out the results HERE. |
